The Absolute Poker instant-play option makes it possible to play online for real money without having to download a thing. All you need is a computer and a connection to the internet. The Absolute poker no-download version is compatible with all computers, whether PC, Mac, Linux or whatever. As long as your computer has an internet browser, you can play online at Absolute Poker.

The no-download version is surprisingly well-done. I wasn’t expecting much when I went to the Absolute Poker website and clicked on the “instant play” link. But much to my surprise, the no-download version mimicked the standard download version almost perfectly. The games took a little longer to load but other than that, they looked and acted the same as the standard version.

When you start the Absolute Poker no-download client, the poker lobby will appear in a separate browser window. Inside there, you can either log in or sign up for an account (remember to use the Absolute Poker referral code when signing up).

After you get that out of the way, you can then browse through the game tables through the poker lobby. When you find a table that looks good, you simply double click it and the table opens up in a separate browser window. The final effect is very similar to that of opening up tables in the standard software version.

Advantages of the Absolute Poker No-Download Software

1. Convenience

Whether you’re on the go or you simply don’t feel like downloading anything, the Absolute Poker no-download software is easy and convenient. You can get online and play for real money in just a few seconds.

2. Compatibility

The instant play poker software is compatible with any computer that can access the internet. All you need is a web browser that supports Java (they all do). Note also that the instant play version is compatible with all the other players at the tables. When you log on through the no-download software, you can still compete against everyone else on the network.

Limitations of the Absolute Poker No-Download

1. Fewer tables at once

The no-download version doesn’t have as many features as the full download version. Most notably, you may only play up to three tables a time (compared 20 at a time in the download version).

2. Fewer tournament types

In ring games, all poker formats are available but in tournaments, Holdem is the only poker variant offered. If you want to play other types of tournaments, you’ll need to download the software.

Overall Rating

The no-download option at Absolute Poker is of high quality and does nothing to detract from the experience. I would like to see more support for multiple tables but other than that and the limited tournament selection, there are no noticeable drawbacks to using the instant play software. It only takes a few seconds to try out the no download option so even if you don’t end up liking it, you won’t have wasted much time with it.
