The tournament scene at Absolute Poker is alive and kicking thanks to a large player base and a wide variety of buyins. Every weekend, Absolute Poker guarantees more than $500,000 in prize pools. In addition to that, there are dozens of tournaments players can join 24/7 with buyins ranging from $0 all the way up to $1,000 and more.

Texas Holdem tournaments are the most popular but Absolute Poker also hosts a variety of other tournaments for Omaha, Razz, HORSE, 7 Card Stud and just about every other poker type. The selection is refreshing after playing at so many poker sites with weak tournament offerings.

Absolute Poker $500K Guaranteed Weekends

Big things happen on the weekends with Absolute Poker guaranteeing $500,000 in prize pools every weekend. The guarantees mean that if not enough players join to meet the minimum guaranteed prize pool, Absolute Poker will add money to the prize pool to make up the difference. No matter what, you know you’re always going to have a large prize pool to play for.

Here’s a quick list of the biggest tournaments each weekend:

  • $200,000 Guaranteed – Sundays at 4PM ET
  • $100,000 Guaranteed – Sundays at 2PM ET
  • $50,000 Guaranteed – Saturdays at 2:55PM ET
  • Sniper $40K Guaranteed – Sundays at 9:00PM ET
  • Sniper $25K Guaranteed – Saturdays at 9:00PM ET
  • $20,000 Guaranteed – Sundays at 8:00PM ET

The buyins range from $120+$10 up to $500 + $30 but if that’s too expensive for your bankroll, there are plenty of satellite tournaments you can play in to win free entry to these tournaments. The satellites are much more affordable and if you play your cards right, you won’t have to pony up the money for a direct buyin to the guaranteed tournaments.

Absolute Poker Satellite Tournaments

Absolute Poker hosts a variety of satellite tournaments in which the prizes are free entries to bigger tournaments. You can win your way in to any of the big money Sunday tournaments or you can even win free entry to major land based tournaments such as the World Series of Poker.

For example, if you want to play in the $200,000 Guaranteed but don’t want to pay $215 to get in, you can play in satellite tournaments to win your way win. A satellite might cost $10 and offer a free entry to the $200K Guaranteed for every 22 entrants. If there’s any leftover cash, it goes to the last player to finish without winning an entry ticket.

Rebuy Tournaments

As the name suggests, rebuy tournaments allow players to rebuy if they lose their chips. During the first hour of play, you can pay a fee to get more chips any time you chip stack falls below 1,500 chips. At the end of the rebuy period, you may purchase an add-on for an additional 2,000 chips or a double add-on for 4,000 extra chips.

Every time a player rebuys, the money goes straight to the prize pool. As a result, rebuy tournaments have significantly larger prize pools than other tournaments of the same buyin level. Even if there aren’t many players in a specific tournament, the prize pool can become much larger due to all the rebuys.

Absolute Poker Sit-n-Go Tournaments

Sit-n-Go tournaments are played with the same rules as multi-table tournaments but the difference is that sit-n-go tournaments tend to be much smaller and they have no set start time – they just begin when enough players have paid and taken their seats.

Most SNG tournaments are 1 table tournaments with nine players and prizes for the top three finishers. There are also Step Tournaments in which players can win their way up to massive prizes from a modest buyin. Additionally, Absolute Poker hosts a variety of multi-table sit-n-go tournaments that seat 18, 27 and 45 players.

These tournaments come in regular, turbo and super-turbo formats. Regular SNGs have 10 minute blind levels, turbos have 5 minute blinds levels and super turbos have 2 minute blind levels. The longer tournaments favor skilled players more because it gives them more time to play hands and utilize their experience. If you want to gamble it up a little more, give the 2 minute turbos a try.

Bounty Tournaments

Bounty tournaments place prizes on the heads of certain players. If you knock out a player with a prize on his head, you win the bounty instantly. It doesn’t matter if you take 1st place or get knocked out on the very next hand – you keep the bounty.

Some bounty tournaments have prizes on the heads of every player. Every time you send a player to the sidelines, you get the bounty on his head. If you knock out a few players, you can take home a good bit of cash without even placing in the money. Just look out – there will be a bounty on your head too.

Absolute Poker Freeroll Tournaments
